Active Oxford resident, Judith Herold, dies at age 73

Judith Herold, a wife, mother and active member of the Oxford community, died Nov. 18, at the Hospice of Hamilton.

Judith Herold

Herold, 73, was born in Belvidere, Illinois to Bruce and Phyllis Hermann. She moved to Hamilton, Ohio, at a young age, graduating from Taft High School, there, in 1964. It was in high school that she met her future husband, Henry Herold. The two were married for 52 years, her husband said.

The Herolds moved to Oxford and raised their children here, said her husband. Mr. Herold described his wife a vibrant and active woman, who, with a friend, operated a wall-papering business in Oxford for 10 years during the 1980s.

She was an active member in the Oxford Presbyterian Church, an avid swimmer and gardener and a member of P.E.O. International, a philanthropic organization that celebrates the advancement of women.

In addition to her husband, Herold is survived by her daughter, Heidi Coffman; son, Bradley Herold; and grandchildren Lauren and Ryan Herold. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas Diehl; her sister, Wendy Booth; a stepsister, Alice Dobson, and nieces and nephews.

The family also wants to thank the University of Cincinnati NeuroScience ICU and Hospice for the tremendous care that they gave Mrs. Herold, her husband said.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Oxford Presbyterian Church, 101 N. Main St. The family requests memorials be directed to the P.E.O. Organization Scholarship Fund, EQ Chapter, 3 Chestnut Hill, Oxford; or to or the Luna Cares Fund,115 W. Spring St. Oxford.
